This student accommodation project is the first phase of a wider £150 million regeneration of the St Marks area of Lincoln by Aberdeen Standard Life.

The mixed-use scheme will also deliver retail and leisure, housing, a hotel and improved parking to the St Mark’s area.  Work started on site in February 2019 and included the partial demolition of a retail park.

The 10 student accommodation blocks provide 1,372 rooms and associated infrastructure. Each room is part of an eight to 12 room cluster and there are common living and kitchen facilities. En-suite shower rooms were built off site and lifted into position as work progressed.

The project team concentrated on employing local trades, with 25 different sub-contractors and up to 300 operatives at any one time working together to deliver what is, in essence, a student village.

The site will be managed by the University of Lincoln and is the second accommodation project we have built for them. St Marks follows a 442-bed three- block accommodation project at Cygnet Wharf in the city, which we completed in October 2017.

During construction the site team undertook many community projects including contributing to the local food bank,  assisting a local with the collection and loading of items to be sent to war-torn Ukraine and repairing a pop-up garden damaged by vandals.
