100 Bristol Business Park is a five-storey, 85,790 sq ft office building with car parking and external landscaping.
The scheme includes the CAT B fit-out of internal partitioning, finishes and M&E services for tenants Babcock. The building has been specifically designed to accommodate a number of operating divisions of the Babcock Group.
Many of the Babcock employees were already working in an existing building which also became home to our site team during construction. Before we started on site we constructed an access road behind the existing offices providing a new route to the main entrance. Existing trees were protected to incorporate them into the new development.
Plot 100 required a piled foundation design – with piles 450mm in diameter and averaging 12m in length. The foundations were completed in nine weeks and the main superstructure/steel frame was designed and fabricated locally.
The main external elevations were a simple but effective linear format using two colour tones with the panels from the first to fourth floors spanning 14m in length. These were installed using vacuum lifters supported from the ground floor with sliding brackets at each floor to permit movement from wind loading.
Much of the internal floor space is open plan with break-out rooms, meeting rooms and the board room on the fourth floor. There is also an external terrace to the fourth floor with a glass balustrade to enable staff to enjoy outdoor lunch breaks.
External works included 85 car parking spaces and landscaping.
