The team from B+K Group company, Munro Building Services, has undertaken the gruelling challenge to complete the National Three Peaks within 24 hours. The feat was in memory of their colleague, Simon Wombwell, who sadly and unexpectedly died in October 2021.

Simon was an avid adventurer and had a life-long love of walking the mountains of Britain; as a 17 year-old Venture Scout he fell 600 feet down Snowdon and miraculously survived. Despite the lasting injuries from the fall, his enthusiasm was not dampened and he continued to walk. This determination and dedication to climb the mountains of Britain inspired the Munro team to undertake this challenge and raise money for the Wombwell family’s chosen charities.

The challenge is to navigate the three highest peaks in the UK within 24 hours; the ascent and decent of Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell Pike (England) & Snowdon (Wales). The challenge itself was very demanding, not only did the team need to be physically fit, they also needed to move quickly on the mountains as the travel between the peaks is included within the timeframe.

Simon’s family nominated the East Anglian Air Ambulance & Royal Papworth Hospital as their charities of choice due to the support and care they provided for Simon. The team has raised over £14,000 for the two Cambridge-based charities.
