Sheffield Chinatown development shortlisted for Investing in Talent Awards

Nominated as a finalist by the judges for both the Best Project to Work On and the Corporate Responsibility Scheme of the Year Awards, the project has already brought many jobs to Sheffield City Region.

Having already inducted 1,640 workers onto site, with an average of 135 workers on site per day during the construction of Phase 1, the project has so far generated 300,000 man-hours of work. A huge 35% of workers on site are coming from within only 10 miles of the site location and carrying out 45% of the work – evidence that the project is a huge supporter of local jobs in the area.

The project is a major mixed use scheme constructed in two phases and includes 423 student flats, 14 private apartments to the top floors including two penthouses, a supermarket for KH Oriental, new retail units and small business units.

We are currently delivering Phase one of the scheme. The first building opened its doors in September, with space for 100 students and up to 9 retail tenants, and the following two buildings of Phase one will be handed over before July 2018.

Caption: The site team has worked hard with local schools to encourage more girls to consider construction as a career – and has hosted numerous year 9 and year 11 students including these pupils from Sheffield High School.
