Danielle Blakey has been raising funds for Grace House, Sunderland

One of our Trainee QS’ in the North East has been busy raising funds for the Grace House charity in Sunderland.

While working on a new office development at the former Vaux Brewery site in the city, Danielle Blakey spotted the Grace House bus driving past almost daily. After doing some research she discovered the charity works hard to improve the lives of disabled children, young people and their families.

She decided to raise money for the charity and collected £930 through a variety of means including collection boxes on site.

She also organised for our supply chain to carry out much-needed work within the charity’s building and grounds including joinery and general building work, paving inside a poly tunnel, making planter beds and general garden maintenance.

A spokesperson for Grace House said: “We cannot thank Danielle and the staff enough for their hard work and the difference they have made to Grace House. The work carried out has been extremely beneficial to Grace House and our service users, giving them the opportunity to have an outdoor experience with us!.

“The work that has been completed and scheduled has been very professional and of a high standard.  We are waiting for a few tasks to be finished off but overall, we at Grace house would like to thank B+K, Danielle, and the various contractors for their time and generosity over the past couple of months.  The jobs that have been completed will help all of the staff and users of Grace House.”

Danielle is so taken with the charity she is now becoming a volunteer to carry on her good work and we think she is a bit of a hero. Well done Danielle!
