Punch Flybrid powering a mast climber

The Punch Flybrid units on site in Manchester

In yet another construction industry first we have extended our on site carbon reduction initiative with a Punch Flybrid system now powering a mast climber at our Eden project, New Bailey in Salford for English Cities Fund – which will give us a 47% reduction in carbon emissions.
This follows extensive research and development,  investment and a year’s successful implementation of Punch Flybrids on tower cranes across our UK sites and (in another industry first) to a construction hoist on a project in Coventry.

The Flybrid kinetic energy recovery system is the perfect fit for our construction projects. We were one of only two construction companies to trial the PUNCH Power 200 system on our sites and were the first to have two of the systems on one project.

The Punch Flybrid product uses a robust and durable flywheel energy storage system to significantly downsize generators powering tower cranes and other dynamically used equipment on site.

Our endeavours have been shortlisted for a British Construction Industry Award.
