Quarry Bank Primary School, Brierly Hill

Value: £5.1m
Completion date: Nov. '11
Contract period: 90 weeks

Quarry Bank Primary School is a new state of the art school providing places for 348 pupils.  The development is part of the Governments’ plan to create a new generation of Primary Schools and one of the first to be delivered as part of Dudley’s Primary Capital Programme.

The scheme involves the construction of a two storey building with 14 classrooms.  The structure of the building has been designed by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to provide inspiring learning spaces and achieve a BREEAM “Very Good” rating.

We are building the new school on the existing play grounds whilst the Victorian school remains in operation.  When the new school is complete we will carefully demolish the existing school and turn the site into a new playing area.

We have carefully managed this operation with close liaison with the school to ensure that disruption to the existing operation is kept to an absolute minimum.

The project, which was won by a traditional tender, is currently due to be handed over six weeks early for the benefit of the school.
