Derbyshire Building Schools for the Future

Bolsover School

In July 2009, Bowmer & Kirkland Ltd., as Construction Partner for the Equitix Consortium, reached financial close on the first phase of the Derbyshire County Council's 10 year, £750m Building Schools for the Future programme.

With our team of architects and educationalists, transformational designs have already been developed for The Bolsover School and Springwell Community School in Staveley. Both schools are delighted with the designs produced and the projects are under construction and on programme for delivery and occupation in October 2010 with all associated external works sheduled for completion in May 2011.

Working closely with Derbyshire County Council and schools' representatives, Bowmer & Kirkland are currently concentrating on the designs for the next two waves of schools;  these include secondary schools, SEN establishments and an academy.

Springwell School

In designing all schools, the educational vision of the Derbyshire County Council and the schools themselves is carefully considered, whilst always allowing for future flexibility in terms of constantly evolving ICT technology, sustainable construction and renewable energy solutions to help protect the environment and reduce running costs of the schools.

The whole process involves consultation with a wide range of stakeholders including students, teachers, parents and the wider local community with the aim of inspiring young people to reach their full potential.

Bowmer & Kirkland are proud to be part of this process and look forward to delivering inspirational schools for Derbyshire over many years to come.
