World class global research facility to be built by B&K

Honours for B&K from University of Sheffield

A ‘Factory of the Future’ is being built by B&K for the University of Sheffield.

The Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility will be a very sustainable, carbon neutral building and a world class global research facility.

Over 100 University of Sheffield researchers will be stationed at the factory and will be responsible for transferring knowledge of pioneering industrial techniques to manufacturing companies throughout the whole region. This will ensure that the Yorkshire and Humber region, as well as national and international business partners, possesses the technical expertise to continually compete on a global scale.

The £8.45m building will be 4,200 sq m and distinctive in its architecture. It has been designed as national exemplar of ‘sustainable’ building development. Prime Partners of the AMRC include some of the world's most renowned companies. The project will be completed in October 2007.

Our partnership with the University also includes the Jessop West Building which will be finished in September 2008. This £13m project will provide modern facilities for the History and English Departments and School of Modern Languages and Linguistics.
