Award winning project for Bowmer & Kirkland

A Bowmer & Kirkland project has won the coveted Large Scheme of the Year Award in the ProCon Awards 2007.

Celebrating excellence and dynamism of the property and construction industry in Leicestershire, the awards singled out the project at One Colton Square, Leicester for its quality and contribution to a changing city.

The development is the city’s first speculative office scheme to be built for a decade and is spearheading the city’s regeneration of a new business quarter.

Client Goodman International appointed Bowmer & Kirkland as main contractor on the £7m, 50,000 sq ft office project which was completed in May.

B&K is now working on the second phase of the development which includes the renovation of the Grade II Listed former Charles Street police station. This £9m scheme will be completed in September 2008.

Bowmer & Kirkland Special Projects’ Construction Director, Gary Bradley, said: “It’s great to gain the award and acknowledges the hard work and commitment shown by the client and the construction and design teams.”

James Pitt, Goodman's Regional Development Director, said: "Colton Square is one our most exciting schemes in the Midlands and the UK. It is an excellent example of a sustainable and dynamic city centre scheme, which is leading the way in regenerating Leicester's New Business Quarter. We are looking forward to continuing our work with Bowmer & Kirkland into 2008 which will see the completion of the scheme's second phase."
