Derbyshire Brain Game raises huge amount for Marie Curie

The sixth B&K sponsored, Derbyshire Brain Game proved to be a huge success raising almost £45,000 for Marie Curie.

It brought together a wide spectrum of the county’s firms who competed for the title of brainiest company in Derbyshire.

The dinner and quiz evening was held at Derby’s Roundhouse and saw 34 teams pit their wits against each other for the contest, which was hosted by BBC TV presenter Andrew James, with guest presenters for different rounds.

There was also an auction for prizes that money can’t buy – including a child-size Tesla car and a week at cliff top villa in Devon.

The most difficult part of the evening came when Clinical Nurse Manager Coreen Astle told the gathered guests a story about Marie Curie support given to her best friend who sadly lost her battle with cancer.

The event was eventually won estate agents Boxall Brown and Jones, with the B&K team coming a creditable eighth. The amount of money raised equates to 2,150 hours of nursing care or, 239 night visits by wonderful Marie Curie nurses.
