After graduating from UMIST, Robert started his career with major contractors in London. In 1975 he joined Bowmer & Kirkland - which was co-founded by his grandfather - and became a Main Board Director in 1976, with responsibility for all construction operations.
In 1988 he established Bowmer & Kirkland (London) Ltd which now has a turnover in excess of £60 million. He has a wide and diverse knowledge of construction having worked in the industry for more than 30 years.
Robert has special responsibility for all aspects of Health & Safety within the Group. He is a former regional chairman of Coutts Bank and in 2003 was invited to become Chairman of the Prince's Trust in Derbyshire.
When not working Robert enjoys skiing, golf and fine wines.
